Information

Our roman blinds are machine sewn and supplied fully strung attached
to a baton ready to hang. Our interlined blinds are hand stabbed. If the blind is to go outside a recess the baton can be
covered in fabric. We recommend fitting a side winder on particularly
wide or long blinds. If you are ordering a blind with blackout lining
there will be less light leakage around the blind if it is inside the recess.

If you have any special requirements; a cascade austrian or festoon
blind, hand sewing, a contrasting bottom or side borders, or trim
please call our sales line on 01344 875419 or email us by clicking here.
We can make to any design.

Strung only or Sidewinder ?

Traditional strung only blinds require a cleat or hook to be fixed to the adjacent wall or window frame. A smooth and simple to operate continuous cord sidewinder enable the blind to stop at any height without the need for a cleat or hook. We recommend this for all large blinds.

Linings

All our blinds are lined. We have 100% cotton sateen lining in white, cream and ivory as standard. A great range of coloured linings are available at additional cost. We would not recommend using brightly coloured linings for south or south-west facing windows as the sun is capable of draining the colour from the lining in a couple of years.

Blackout Lining can be used if you are sensitive to light. This is not black and can be used with even the palest of fabrics.

Interlining is an extra layer of ‘bump’ between the curtain fabric and lining. If you would like thick blinds that look sumptuous and flow with fluid movement or have draughty windows, we would recommend interlining. Some of our more delicate fabrics, for example silk blinds need to be interlined to help protect this delicate fabric. All our interlined blinds are hand sewn.

Measuring

Blinds can sit either inside or outside a window recess. Before measuring it is important to decide which you want. Always use a metal tape measure, as a cloth or plastic tape may stretch.

Enter measurements for Austrian, Festoon, Roman and London Blinds in centimetres.

Roller Blinds need to be measured to the nearest millimetre. The finished width of a roller blind will be 38mm narrower than the width measurement to allow for the blind mechanism. Processed Roller Blinds can only be made up to a width of fabric.

Inside a Window Recess

Measure the length from the top to the bottom of the recess. B.
Measure the width at the top of the window recess, where the blind is to be fitted.
Measure the width at two other points of the recess i.e the middle and the bottom.
Record the lowest measurement to ensure the blind does not snag when being lowered. A.
Outside a Window Recess

To obtain the length, measure from the required position above the window, down to the required finished length.

To obtain the required width, measure the width of the window and add how much you want the fabric to overlap the recess.

We suggest at least 5cm each side.
For example width is A + 50mm + 50mm.
